Christopher Moraff is a journalist, ethnographer & public speaker whose work covers the intersection of policing, criminal justice, and drug policy. His byline has appeared in numerous publications; and his writing on community policing and prison reform has been widely cited in media and academia. He is an expert on illicit drug markets, addiction medicine and synthetic drugs, and in 2017 introduced fentanyl test strips to Pennsylvania. Chris's immersion reporting from Philadelphia’s open air drug markets earned him a reputation as one of the most knowledgeable journalistic sources on illicit drug markets, injection drug culture & the overdose crisis. He co-founded the popular drugs podcast Narcotica with fellow drug journalists Zachary Siegel & Troy Farah. He most recently was Drug Culture, Media & Policy Fellow at Investigative Reporters & Editors (IRE). He is currently a Fellow at the Center for Forensic Science Research & Education, where he helping develop an innovative new drug checking program. Moraff has degrees in Sociology and Journalism from Temple University.
